Tekke Turkmen Silver & Carnelian Single Band Cuff Bracelet

The Turkmen Groups of Central Asia prize blood-red carnelian and it takes centre stage in their magnificent jewellery creations.  The gemstone is alleged to protect against miscarriage and prevent horses from loosing their footing.  These pastoral people use jewellery as an easily transportable store of wealth that can readily be turned into money.

The bracelet is made of silver and still has traces of the gilding in the indented part of the cuff bracelet.
